Fred Binstead, Director
Fred has over 40 years experience in the Financial Services industry with 20 years at the Sun Alliances Head Office pensions department, where his specialised experience in all aspects of pension schemes was gained. As a senior manager, he led and supported the development of corporate pension and other group employee benefits schemes. His role developed further with the merger between the Sun Alliance and the Royal.

In 1999 Fred joined City Financial Planning in a similar role. As the pensions market has continued to evolve his expertise is also now used to provide specialist one to one pensions advice to clients. He continues to provide corporate financial planning advice to businesses and business owners.

Sandra Bishop, General Manager and Director
Sandra has been in financial services for over 20 years, working with both NatWest & Aviva managing teams of financial advisers. Having been successful in her roles within the corporate sector, she joined City Financial Planning in 2002, and since became a Director in the Company. Her role at City is a combination of supervision, business development and advising clients. Sandra enjoys meeting and working with people, and prides herself in having an open and friendly approach, believing one of the most important aspects of her role is trust.

Sandra is able to advise in all areas of financial planning, including mortgages, protection, equity release, investments, pensions and long term care. Having achieved her Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Diploma in Financial Planning, Sandra is now working towards her Chartered status, the premier title for the professional financial adviser.

In her personal life, Sandra is married to Paul and has two step children Josh & Harry; she enjoys keeping fit, travelling, skiing, cooking, theatre and generally socialising with friends & family. Her philosophy is you only get one chance at life, so enjoy it!!!

Kypros Harrison DipPFS Certs CII (MP & ER), Director and Financial Planner
Kypros joined City Financial Planning as a Director in January 2000. He advises clients with regard to Long Term Care Planning, Inheritance Tax Planning, pre and post retirement needs with regard to bespoke pensions, investment and holistic financial planning needs, as well as providing corporate financial advice to a wide range of companies. Kypros has much experience of working closely with tax consultants, accountants and solicitors advising their private and commercial clients. Having worked in various areas of the financial services industry since the early 1990's Kypros spends much of his time in the South West and London. Kypros is a member of the Personal Finance Society and is currently working towards the Chartered qualification with the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Kypros is an equity owning Director of City Financial Planning and takes IT and telecoms responsibility for the City Group of companies.

Kypros in his spare time trains as a Biathlete, Triathlete, Laser Run, and Biathlon, competing for GB at European and World level as well as supporting his family, Sue and Emily, in their various sporting pursuits. Kypros is also qualified as a swimming official for both pool and open-water at a local, national and international level including IPC World Champs and Special Olympics.

Gary Pimm DipPFS, Director
Gary has over 25 years experience in financial services, working in consulting and management roles for a number of high-profile companies.

In 2000, Gary joined City Financial Planning as a Director, and has since been instrumental in building the team in Bath and the City Financial Planning (Exeter) in Exeter. He is an equity-owning Director taking operational responsibility for sales and marketing of both companies.

With extensive experience, Gary advises on a wide range of both domestic and corporate financial planning, and works closely with other professionals such as solicitors and accountants. His expertise includes: wealth management and investment portfolio planning; domestic and commercial mortgage advice; personal and corporate tax planning; domestic and corporate pension planning; estate planning and trusts; family protection; and personal injury compensation cases including Trust planning.

Gary is married with two grown-up sons. He enjoys boating, jet-skiing, travelling, gardening and is a big Formula 1 fan.

Tim Quirke DipPFS, Director
Tim has over 30 years Financial Services experience starting with Prudential where during his 20 year career he enjoyed a variety of roles in retail distribution including the launch of Egg the internet Bank . He later joined a London based consultancy where he managed projects and opened new opportunities in Poland that included the design of training and client relationship strategy. Tim joined City Financial Planning in 2001 where he offers full financial planning advice working in conjunction with his clients.

Tim is an equity owning Director of City Financial Planning and takes operational responsibility for finance and personnel.

Tim is married with an adult daughter; he enjoys walking reading and music which he states he is more successful at listening to than playing.

Mark Brill, Financial Planner
Mark has over 25 years’ experience working in financial services. Mark started his career in the insurance industry and then joined the financial planning services in 1988. During his career he has worked with some of the UK’s most high profile insurance companies, including Aviva and Royal & Sun Alliance. In 2005, Mark chose to join City Financial Planning Limited, bringing his wealth of experience with him. Mark is very much a people person, always taking interest in their aims and ambitions and trying to help facilitate these through financial planning.

Mark has his own satellite office in rural Gloucestershire and is married with two children.

Mark became President of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Insurance Institute in 2016. The Institute’s ethos is the professional development and training within the insurance and financial services professions for the benefit of customer care.

Mark is a committee member and former secretary of his local parish hall. He also supports his community by sponsoring his local village cricket team.
In his spare time he reads history, plays football and supports his local Rugby team.

John Davies ACII DipPFS, Financial Planner
John joined City Financial Planning Ltd in 2004 as a Senior Financial Consultant. He offers a full financial planning service for individual clients and also has a specialist role in retirement planning for both individuals and companies. He has worked in the insurance industry since 1975 originally in the City of London with a Lloyds broking firm. In 1988 he moved into Financial Services and relocated to the country to bring up his daughters in a rural environment. With over 25 years in financial services he brings a wealth of experience to his dealings with clients. His family has grown up and he now enjoys some extra spare time playing golf and badminton, becoming a level 1 badminton coach in 2011.

Nigel Lewins DipPFS, Financial Planner
Nigel was born in Lincolnshire and had a variety of employments from senior management roles in the business sector as well as the civil service before entering the Financial Services sector. He moved to the Bath area 30 years ago.

Nigel has been in the Financial Services Industry for 23 years, and holds qualifications in Financial Planning, Cemap mortgage advice, G60 Pensions*, Chartered Institute of Insurers Savings and Investment advice, and Diploma in Financial Services. Nigel is also a member of Personal Finance Society, Nigel is continuing to study for his Chartered qualification at the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Nigel specialises in looking after private clients and works in conjunction with accountants and solicitors providing holistic financial planning, He specialises in investment planning and pension provision.

Nigel is married, with two daughters and can be found honing his skills on the golf course at weekends, as well as having a keen interest in history and the arts.

Julian Oakey DipPfs ACIB, Financial Planner
Julian joined City Financial Planning following redundancy from the Royal Bank of Scotland in early 2013. He works in Farnham Surrey, but is in regular daily contact with the office in Bath.
Julian has worked in finance since 1975; he has a good working knowledge of finance, mostly with individuals and small to medium size family businesses. With 25 years of his time with NatWest spent in Life and Pensions. He has specialised in retirement planning, particularly around the new Workplace pension and those at the point of retirement.
Julian has completed the Diploma qualification, and would like to go on to Chartered status.
Julian is married to Pippa; they have three grown up boys, Jamie, Daniel and Andrew. Julian enjoys growing fruit and vegetables on his allotment. When time permits Julian likes to go sailing.

Gary Player, Financial Planner
Gary has over 15 years’ experience in financial services, remaining loyal to firms in the South West, and building a successful local client base in the area.
Gary advises on all areas of financial planning, with a focus on investments and pensions.
Gary is married to Jan, with two daughters and are proud grandparents to four grandchildren. In any free time from the office, Gary enjoys taking cruise holidays around the world.

Sarah Robins BA (Hons) APFS Certs CII (MP & ER), Chartered Financial Planner
Sarah joined City Financial Planning as a Financial Consultant in 2003. Sarah advises private and corporate clients on all areas of financial planning and specialises in retirement and investment planning. She is able to review and provide advice in relation to all types of pensions, including occupational schemes (both defined benefit and money purchase). In relation to investment planning, this would include any standard investments as well as more specialist areas such as advising on investments designed for inheritance tax planning.

After gaining a 2:1 in Economics from Nottingham University Sarah moved to Bristol and worked as an accountant for Deloitte for a couple of years before deciding to move into the Financial Services industry in 2000. Sarah is a member of the Personal Finance Society and has The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. She has held the prestigious CII Chartered Financial Planner qualification since 2012, which is the gold standard qualification available for professional financial advisers in the UK.

Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, Alex, and their teenage son, Matthew. She particularly enjoys walking, running, cycling, skiing, tennis, music and travelling. She enjoyed playing hockey for many years but now enjoys watching Matthew’s numerous hockey matches. She also enjoys watching many types of sports both live and on TV. She supports Spurs, having originally come from London, (unfortunately outnumbered by Liverpool supporters at home) and the Bath rugby team, having lived in Bath for much of her childhood.

Peter Ruff, Financial Planner
Peter has nearly 20 years’ experience in financial services, having worked for advisory firms including Pearl Assurance, Chantry Associates, part of Countrywide Independent Advisers and Shape Financial. Peter has brought to City a tremendous amount of experience and a loyal client base.
Peter specialises in all areas of financial planning, especially pensions, investments, wealth planning and advising clients into retirement.
Peter is married with two children, two step children and two grandchildren.

Alex Veale BSc(Hons), DipPFS, , Financial Planner
Alex joined City Financial Planning in 2011 after leaving the University of Reading with a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics.

Alex is a member of the Personal Finance Society and has achieved his Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Alex advises clients in all areas of Financial Planning including investments, pensions, tax planning, mortgages, insurance and has a wealth of knowledge to help his clients achieve their financial goals as efficiently as possible.

In his spare time Alex enjoys playing football, going to the gym and spending quality time with his wife Jade and son Theodore.

Alan Willey, Financial Planner
Alan has 42 years’ experience in financial services, with his initial 23 years working with Lloyds Bank before qualifying as a financial adviser in 1997. Alan covers all areas of financial planning but specialises in pensions.
Alan is married to Carol who also works in financial services. They have 3 adult sons, 3 adult daughters and two grandsons.
Alan has always been a keen follower and participant in most sports although very little of that is active now!

Tony Oaten, Financial Planner

Tony has over 28 years in Financial Services, starting his career at Prudential working in consulting and management roles for a number of high profile companies.

In May 2017 Tony Joined City Financial bringing his wealth of experience with him; he offers full Financial Planning to his loyal client base mainly based in and around the Bristol and Bath area.

Tony specialises in Wealth Management, Inheritance Tax Planning and Retirement Planning. Tony aims is to bring the potential benefits of advice to all clients, communicating in an open and honest way with a very relaxed manner, ensuring the key points are fully understood, then regularly stays in contact to ensure plans stay on track for the original objectives.

Tony is married with 2 grown up children. He enjoys walking and cycling and regular holidays.

Denise has worked as a Financial Adviser for over 20 years, during which time she has worked for Prudential, IFA, Alexander Forbes and NFU Mutual. She is a member of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and has attained the Chartered Insurance Institution (CII) Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning. More recently as well as working with clients, Denise has been involved in the training and development of new financial advisers which has been a rewarding experience and has given her the opportunity to develop and reflect on her own client work.

Denise offers a full range of financial planning services. She particularly likes to work with clients to create a tailored holistic financial plan and to follow this through with clients over the longer term. She specialises in developing retirement income plans for clients who seek to feel confident they can enjoy a comfortable retirement. Denise also has expertise in developing long term investment strategies, including those which involve inheritance and succession planning.

Denise is married with two grown up children and a grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, walking and is a keen animal lover.
